How long will the hit alert last in mid-atlantic and southern region !

Extreme heat wave in Mid-Atlantic and Southern States

After enduring several days of relentless heat across much of the Midwest and Northeast, the peak conditions are expected to shift to the Mid-Atlantic this weekend. In cities like Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., temperatures could reach 100 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday, with heat indexes exceeding 105 due to high humidity.

Numerous cities, including Indianapolis, Detroit, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Washington, and Baltimore, have already hit or are forecasted to hit the highest level on the National Weather Service’s HeatRisk scale, which measures the threat to human health. On Friday, over 200 million people in the United States are expected to experience temperatures of at least 90 degrees.

Looking ahead, the Climate Prediction Center forecasts continued above-normal temperatures across most of the lower 48 states through the end of June, with particularly high temperatures in the Carolinas and Virginia (Drought.gov). For the most up-to-date information and specific forecasts, you can check local weather updates and the National Weather Service's alerts.
